My birthday flowers

September 10th, 2009 was my 31st birthday. My dad sent me flowers which was a nice surprise. They were BEAUTIFUL!!

Tyaan's 18th Surprise Party

On July 23rd Tyaan turned 18 and I threw her a surprise party. We had just gotten home from Hawaii so I convinced her that we should do a party later in the summer. I used my mom's house and set up while she thought I was at work. I told her that my dad wanted to take her out to dinner that night so she got dressed nicely.

She always wants a jumper...so we had to get one. They did have a lot of fun in it. And of course Russell had to climb up on top...




Her cake was amazing!


Can't believe she's 18 already. What a beautiful girl she is. I was so glad that she had such a good time, and that I was able to surprise her!

Hawaii

In July the Haslam family went to Hawaii to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. We had been looking forward to it for several months. It is always great to get to go to Hawaii, but it's especially great to go with the family and see everyone all together.

We flew out of LAX direct to Kona. Here is Tyaan sharing her music with Megan while we were waiting to board the plane.

After seeing nothing but ocean below you for hours the island is a very welcome sight.


It's a lot of fun to fly into the Kona airport. They just roll the stairs up to the plane out on the runway and you get off. The airport is very small and all outdoor. Let the vacation begin!!


We stayed in a house for the week. It was nice to have our own pool. The house was beautiful. This is the view of the back yard. Just over the plumeria trees you could see the ocean.


The best part of Hawaii is relaxing. This was a day spent by the pool. Megan was a lot of fun, and had me almost asleep!


We had a nice dinner at Roys in Waikaloa for Susan's birthday. It was a great meal and was fun to have everyone together. Andrew loves Uncle Jon!

We spent one day touring the island. Tyaan had never been to some of the places so it was great to go see them again. This was our first stop. We spent a lot of time here, it was beautiful. Several of the family hiked down a ways. Tyaan of course out in front.



This was a later stop. Akaka falls. It's a pretty easy walk down to this spot, and it's gorgeous.



We finally made it to Volcano National Park. It's amazing!! I was really looking forward to seeing it again. We didn't have a lot of time since we got there late in the day.

We did get to walk through a lava tube.


Jon's birthday also fell during that week. We had a cake for him also.


And of course my favorite view. I took this while laying out at the beach. What a beautiful place.

Jeff's Birthday

Jeff turned 19 on May 24th this year. It's still unbelievable that this is the same kid that used to spend hours and hours with me and go everywhere with me.

May 5th was Brandon's 28th birthday. We had cake at my mom's house.

Don's Birthday

My father in law's birthday is on February 16th. We had dinner with them on Sunday evening and Scott and Melissa were out for the weekend also. Melissa made chocolate cupcakes in place of a birthday cake. They were yummy, and he got his 1 candle out with only 1 try! :-)

My 'Princess' Birthday

I am, as of yesterday September 10th 2008, 30 years old. I celebrated my birthday like any hardworking, responsible adult would. I went to work. But while I was at work I got a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my mom and dad.


After work I got to go to my mom's house because she offered to cook me my favorite dinner. (Which is pot roast, because I know you were all wondering.) Once my family was all home we headed over for dinner. I walked in to a house decorated just for my birthday dinner! It was great. There was a princess tablecloth with decorations, chocolate cake and some wrapped presents, there was another princess tablecloth on the dining room table and decorations hanging from the chandelier, and there were balloons and a princess "Happy Birthday" banner in the living room. It was great! I felt pretty special.



We had dinner, which was delicious. Brandon wasn't able to make it due to work, but he called and left me a message which was nice of him. Jeff's girlfriend, Briana (i don't know if I spelled it right) was there also.

After dinner we played some cards and talked (mostly about Big Brother) and then we had cake and ice cream. 2 of my favorite things. I got all of the candles out except 1! What a bummer!


This is what my mom got me for my birthday. 2 Precious Moments figurines. The one where she's holding a star plays Silent Night. They are really pretty.


Tyaan gave me the first season of The Big Bang Theory, which is a really funny show. I'm hoping to start watching it tonight before I go to bed.

I also got a couple phone calls from family and friends that I don't get to talk to very often which was really great. It was a great birthday and I think my 30's are going to be fabulous!

I know we're a day late, sorry. But I thought you'd like to know we had birthday cake (with candles even, I blew them out for you) and ice cream for your birthday!

Tyaan's Party

We had a party for Tyaan's 17th birthday yesterday. (Her birthday is actually tomorrow, the 23rd) It turned out really well and she had a good time.


She wanted a chocolate cake, so that's what she got. She got all 17 candles out at once, also!


I had tables and chairs out with some candy, bubbles, and paper blowers. They looked cute, and after eating it was great to sit and snack on the sweets. Jon cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the barbeque and made homemade salsa. Everything was really good.


We also had a jumper, which was the first thing on her list of what she wanted. It was where she spent most of her time. It certainly got used!




We also had Rock Band set up out on the patio. It worked out really well. They'd come play when they needed a breather from the jumper.


We had a lot of fun. We had some friends there that we hadn't seen for a while which was great. And we had several others stop by and had a great time visiting with all of them. We stayed up too late and there's still clean up to be done, but it was worth it!
